On my MR this weekend I got a UDU on an early morning segment and asked for the Sunrise Sunset since I haven't tried it and I knew that was likely the only UDU I would get on this MR (I was right). First the FA didn't know what I was talking about. I explained it was the new premium drink a FA submitted and won. He said "Oh yeah, I need to see what that is." He took a menu to look at the ingredients... and that's when he said something I couldn't believe... in plain view and sound of the F cabin, he turned to another FA and said...

"Ugh, this new drink submitted by that FA is retarded!! I can't believe United went for it... you have to use a cran-apple AND orange juice! You know what I mean?"

Now I don't really get offended by words like "retarded" and such but I know A LOT of people that do. I really could not believe he used that word in front of passengers... I'm sure there are people that would have been quite upset and complained to UA. But, of course, it was fun deciding whether he was truly concerned about United's profit margin on the drink... or that he just doesn't like opening two cans instead of one.

As for the drink itself, he butchered it. Sure enough, he wasn't in GQ's Mixologist of the Year article when I checked....
