The fine print has yet to be revealed, so it's speculation at this point.
But the email says "on eligible flights operated by Air Canada". Taking that literally means - it's the paint on the outside that counts and not the flight number printed on the boarding pass.
But the word "eligible" could still cover a multitude of other things such as codeshares.
(BTW, I have still not received the E-Connections email - maybe I did something to make me ineligible.)
