So you are saying that the extra points you get for eating or staying at a starwood property is for being a starwood member, NOT for having the optima card. like a bonus on an airline, no matter how the flight is paid for - which IS different than the double points AMEX has had on their MR and Delta cards for use at a grocery store (expired June 15), I hadn't really thought about it, but you are right. That is why my dinner purchase at the Westin in Puerto Vallarta was NOT automatic - it is not linked. I was suppose to have brought the bill to the front desk of the hotel for them to have entered it. Instead, they took care of it by phone when I asked where the bonus was.
