Yeah, but I work for a small family run business that just had its best year on record. As one of the most senior members of the workforce, it'd be poor form for me to not attend.
We just had a record-breaking year and still no notice about a holiday party. They are still, however, busting balls about the damned travel expenses (yes, that change fee was required and authorized - don't like it, complain to my boss...he's the one that told me to be there the next day, five hours prior to the redeye departing).
