The ticket seller will speak passable English and will write down your destination for the driver (who probably will understand a nominal amount of English as well). "Hyatt Caribe, por favor" ought to be the most Spanish you need for the journey.

On the way back to the airport, take a taxi. It should cost you about $20-25, about half what you'd pay to take a taxi from the airport.

The rest of the time, taking the buses on Kukulcan Blvd. is easy and inexpensive (7 pesos). And, the buses run 24 hours a day.
Does the above transportation info still hold true?

Thankfully there seems to be a large beach now^

There have been zero other concerns about this on this thread, so I’m assuming it isn’t an issue. BTW is there a fridge that one can use in the rooms?

At all times (mid-day, too) beer and wine were complimentary. Same for spirits in the evening.
Excellent!

So where did you (or others) dine / walk to near the hotel?
Are there decent restaurants near the hotel?

I’m surprised to not read one comment about the three of the Mayan ruins that you can visit from Cancun: Chichen Itza, Coba and Tulum. Has anyone done a day trip?
