AndrewWebber: I don't believe that the $60 premium is worth the Club Level. take your chances on an upgrade. Hotel Guy is correct about the soft drink charges in the Club Lounge. Shame on this property charging $3.50 for what is usually a free amenity at almost all other Starwood Club Lounges. Their cost is $0.27. For the extra $60, I could avail myself of breakfast, lunch and dinner at almost any downtown bistro.
Another strategy: Have you thought about or tried using the 50% off reward. For 1,500 points you can get 50% off the rack rate for 5 consecutive nights. You will still accrue Starpoints for the amount of $$ you spend on your lodgings and meals, so you will still earn a reduced number of Starpoints, qualify for a couple of Free Fridays (# of nights...not stays, count), and require only a couple of more nights to get your Free Weekends! This award is capacity controlled, so you must contact Starwood to see if it is available during your stay. Good luck!
