Tesco Wine charge £5 for 'free' delivery; poor CS
A data point - not sure whether this should be in the Tesco or e-shopping thread ...
I ordered from Tesco Wine using the BA e-shopping link offering free delivery (and double miles). During the process, the message came up: 'Please note: If you have qualified for a free delivery, this will show when you proceed to payment.' It didn't, and £5 was charged.
No problem. After all, CS will refund, if not I can cancel. Except that I tried to phone three times and each time I selected option 3, I got the engaged tone. OK, then, send a message. I got the 'bad weather, it may take some time' automatic response.
That was 48 hours ago. Delivery is tomorrow. (The e-mail says already despatched ...)
It hardly seems worth the effort to cancel for the sake of £5. Nevertheless, in the inspire-confidence-in-Tesco stakes, it rates a zero. This comes after the Tesco Internet Phone problem, which wasn't resolved until I e-mailed Sir Terry's address and his PA sorted things.
