I'm new to this whole Starwood thing, however I just got an AMEX Sheraton Starpoints card on the recommendation of the many FlyerTalk Evangelists.

The Card sounds good for converting airlines miles with the 25% bonus, but is it EVER worth it to use the Starpoints for hotel stays? I probably won't get starpoints any other way than the card because most of the Starwood properties have prices that are too rich for my blood!

Also, since I now have comp gold status for a year thanks to AMEX, does this mean anything? What can I get? Thanks!
