Agreed on the inappropriateness of the remark. On the other hand I was talking to a fellow 1K the other day as we waited to board and she said that the number of GS is growing. She expressed concern that us "lowly 1Ks" would get fewer and fewer upgrades, especially on the tough routes, e.g. ORD-HKG.
