Assuming you are quoting train prices, one can add German train segments to AA flights for next to nothing if you travel on the dates of your inbound or outbound flights. It is a little known perk called Rail & Fly.

I did this on a trip a few months ago, and it cost be an extra $8 to take the train from Frankfurt to Minden involving one connection.

Do a search on Deutsche Bahn in the AA forum to get additional details. When you call AA to do this, you have to be persistent. Their employees don't seem to know much about the program either.
