In the last week of Jan & first week of Feb I'll be going SFO-LHR on W fares, looking to SWU up to C.

Currently the loads on those flights look quite light, but NC0. I assume C could fill in the next 2 months, but have no idea how likely this is. Any thoughts on how likely I am to upgrade successfully?

Also, I assume routing through LAX is better for SWUs? (I could actually book now with one on the return leg, which unfortunately is less important than the outbound).
IME, SWUs tend to clear about one week out or at the gate, if they clear. I have also found the LAX connection seems to be a better bet, but I never use it Eastbound as it means leaving SFO way too early - miss a day's work - and arriving LHR way too early.
