We are in paid coach on SQ11/12 in July. I paid for preferred seats, and when I got a text yesterday that SQ12 had changed schedule/equipment, I went online to select seats, and although it listed the flight as A380-800, the seatmap remained B744. I called to see if I could get u/d exit row, but no joy. I was told just wait until the seatmap changes.

Then this morning another text, this time that SQ11 was now A388. I went online and was able to get 81A/C upper deck exit row, two together in the 2-4-2 config. SQ12 still has the 744 seatmap, but I will keep checking.
