Also, you might have your friend check his SPAM folder in case the email from Marriott went there. Most of the time Marriott emails go to my inbox, but occasionally they go to my spam folder. Might have happened to your friend.
When you sent your friend the referral to his email, you should have received an email confirmation from Marriott that they've received the info you provided and an email was sent to your friend. Did you receive that email from Marriott?
