Habitat for Humanity's ReStore be in your future? This is my option when I need smaller quantities of paint/supplies for an entire project. If I need a larger quantity, it's off to Lowes / HD with a discounted gift card off eBay (and coupon).
No stores within an hour of my house. I think I may just go to my local paint store a mile from home and give him my business (I'm still assessing how many surface areas need to be done). Did a 2 hr grocery shopping trip this am but did save some big $'s.
