I have to disagree with the general opinion here.
Although I am BA Gold and read the BA forum (which is really great, btw) regularly, I cannot say that Lufthansa C is that bad at all. I have flown both BA and Lufthansa transatlantic in both C and F recently, and while I agree that the BA lounges are much nicer and the flat bed is a real advantage in C, the food (for the european and the intercont. part) is much much better on Lufthansa flights.
As this flight is supposed to go through Munich and the Munich lounges are much better than the rest, I personally would not sit in Y from ATH to LHR.
I have to partly (dis)agree here. Seats are really much better in CW than LH-C, also (if you have a window seat) much more private. Food quality is about the same, I would say, but quantity significantly less in LH-C (with no equivalent to the Club Kitchen); LH has even managed to enhance away the salad, which is now one of the appetizer options.
On lounges, I agree, MUC is sooo much better than FRA. But CCR is still way ahead (though below FCL at LH, which you won't have access to).
But overall, I would rather "suffer" (is it really that bad for a 4-hour flight?) BA-Y and then go to F than LH-C all the way.
