I stayed there in 97. My wife and I like it. All rooms face the ocean. The service was good during our stay. FYI, the building is Japanese style architecture, Japanese castle. BTW Prince hotel is a Japanese chain but its American and Canadian properties are co-branded with Westin. Lastly, it has good restaurants and the Sunday brunch is a MUST!

Its location can be downside. It's located south (west) end of the island; south of Kehei and Wailea. It's good 40 min drive to get to Western Maui if you are into night life. This worked out better for us since we like quite places.

BTW which room did you get, partial ocean view, ocean view or ocean front? It doesn't hurt to call the hotel directly to find out about its current promotions. Prince Hotels in Hawaii always run promotions, like room, car and breakfast or golf packages. Back in '97 it offered room (partial ocean view), car, and breakfast for $209/night.

Only other place we stayed was Renaissance Wailea which is close to Maui Prince hotel so I really can't comment on West Maui hotels. If you are into night life and etc then West Maui would be better choice.

Enjoy your stay!
