in my local (rural) post office the exact same kit (paper, tag, string etc) is 46p and large enough by far to do one player.
Or you can buy plastic mailing bags from amazon - bought these as below, not arrived yet but they should just about fit and only 26p each - and no postage. I'll post again to confirm they fit but having measured around the box it looks fine. Box girth is 78cm, bag girth is 85cm. Box length is 40cm, bag length is 60cm. Clearly box won't go all the way to the bottom of the bag but the extra 10cm each end should be enough to close.

As it's nearly 2kg in weight best mailing is "standard royal mail parcels" which is £4.41 and takes 3 days. Max compensation is £41 which isn't far off what would be getting for the item anyway in real terms. It's a £1 more for comp of £100.
If you ever need to send something really big, these have proven the best so far.
http://www.senditnow.com they collect from your home and up to 30kg is £10.50 on a 2 day service £11.99 for next day £12.99 for next day by noon. It's ParcelForce - jsut an alternative brand.
