I am not so sure it means all that much.
Do some hotels that have happy clients ask them to post reviews? I am sure this must happen.
I always look at the TA reviews before I book. But I sort of look for the over all tenor of the reviews. Then I ask on a TA forum asking advice from those who post on the forum.
Overall I am quiet happy with TA. You do have to review with a critical eye. A 2 star Amsterdam review where someone is complaining about steep stairs or small rooms? I figure a first time clueless visitor.
Are some hotel owners unhappy with the reviews or comments? No doubt they are.
But instead of trying to remove the bad reviews they ought to worry about fixing their hotel.
Good the TA system is. Perfect it is not.
Glad that TA reviews work for you. Most people have no clue that the system is rigged. I too post on TA a LOT (I am a DE as well) and only have a handful of reviews. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at a username and figure out if they contribute more than just a handful of reviews. Unfortunately, most people believe everything they read online. Unfortunately it is to their detriment. But of course TA never tells anyone how to be discerning.
My hope is that the class action lawsuits in the US and UK go through and TA will clean up its act.
