I have mixed feelings on this one.
I did post earlier that I would not stay at hotels that charged by the minute for local and 800 calls. It's a principle, and sometimes principles are worth fighting for.
On the other hand, I think Sheraton's 60 minute cut off before the "please deposit 10 cents" is reasonable. In practice it will probably add about a dollar a night to my hotel costs. I've stated before, here and to hotel managers that I'd prefer that they raise the room rate a couple of bucks rather than charge me by the minute.
So if I plan on staying online for a couple of hours, then I just have to hang up before the timer hits 60 mins and then reconnect.
Of course, timing one's calls is an inconvenience. So what are my options, go back to Hilton and their 30 minute cut off, I don't think so. Go over to Hyatt, they don't have hotel where I need or want to be most of the time. Switch to Marriott? Perhaps.
Just except it and hope that next year they dont make the cut off 30 minutes, most likely.
Will this make me less likely to stay at a Sheraton? A little. Will it cost Starwood some nights of my business? Perhaps.
I guess only time will tell.
