Sheraton North American Telephone Pricing Changes

I found the following waiting for me when I checked in tonight at the Sheraton Ft Lauderdale Airport hotel(BTW: It was posted
at the front desk and a copy was in my room next to the phone)

------------------------------
Consistent with all Sheraton Hotels in North America, we have changed the pricing structure of our local and 800/888/877 calls.
Please take a moment to review this guide to avoid excessive charges on your account.

Hotels have experienced huge growth in the number of local and 800/877/888 calls due to internet access and e-mail. The lengthy duration of these internet on-line calls will often tie up all of the available phone lines, causing busy signals to other guests trying to use the phone system.

While we still wish to remain "business-friendly" by offering low cost calls and complimentary 800/888/877 calls, we must ensure that adequate telephone service is available to all guests.

To that end, we now charge an additional, $.10 per minute charge for local and 800/888/877 calls that last 60 minutes or longer. Our research has determined that 60 minutes is a reasonable time to access basic internet and e-mail functions; calls that remain under 60 minutes are still free(800/977/888), or charged at local call prices($0.85).

As an example of the higher priceing, an 800 call lasting for 90 minutes would be billed at $3.00(60 minutes free & 30 minutes @ $.10 per minute).

We thank you for familiarizing yourself with this change, and thank you for your continuing patronage of Sheraton and Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

Note: I copied this verbatim, include the reference to 977 calls, most likely meant to be 877.
