I have had one terrible experience with Starwood. It was the Calgary Sheraton, given a smoking room when asked for a non smoking room, only way I could get a non smoking room was if I pay more to upgrade to Club floor which I denied. Not a word of apology of that.

However, Starwood was very good in handling this situation (they found out from reading this board...yes! they are in fact reading this board, they also were able to find my name from this board????)as compared to the hotel. I was given Starpoints and discount coupon compensation which I found sufficient. However, I will never return to that property due to the initial attitude and treatment given from the hotel. Apology from the hotel afterward does not make me feel any better toward the hotel, it's what they do to resolve the problem initially.

We could not speak for starwood based on a couple of properties that gives us crappy service/rooms. However, to say the truth..I have been staying at Hilton for the last 8 stays since that Calgary incidents and they have been treating me extremely well which gives me no reason to switch back to Starwood in the near future unless they do something I am exremely impress about.

Regards,
Empress
