Just got back from a stay at both properties.
Fisherman's Cove:
When we checked in we where offered our choice of three different rooms! The front desk staff member walked us to each room and let us chose which one we wanted. Two were deluxe sea view rooms and the other was a garden view suite. The suite was very large and I loved the high ceilings, but the wife adored the location and unobstructed sea view, so we went with the deluxe. We chose the wine for our platinum amenity and when we got back from dinner in Victoria there were actually two bottles of sauvignon blanc on ice waiting for us. They also provided a plate of small appetiziers too. Very nice touch.
Overall the facilities were excellent, we loved the pool and although the service was a bit slow, the staff was friendly and the food was good.
They also offer a daily complimentary coffee and tea from 4-5 pm at the pool bar. The crepes were good, but I didn't care for the cakes much. Also, I believe they offer a managers reception on Mondays and Thursdays only. Unfortunately we were there on the weekend and didn't get to check this out.
Barbarons:
We were upgraded to practically the best room on the property, which was closest to the ocean and the most private room available. They laid out a t-shirt, small fruit bowl, bottle of champagne and a lovely scarf in our room when we arrived. They did a wonderful job preparing the room. We also received a bottle of wine for our platinum amenity, which the promptly followed up on when we inquired.
We had dinner at the restaurant two nights in a row and found the chef's pre fixe dinner to be outstanding. It was 5-7 courses and everything was excellent, especially the grilled red snapper, fish curry, and short ribs. At about $47 for two people, this was an outstanding value.
I thought the pool at Barbarons was not quite as nice as the Fisherman's Cove and the location is much more remote, however I thought the service was excellent and we were much closer to some great beaches, just 15-20 min south, that being anse soliel, near the Four Seasons.
