Sensational title, I know...
Was on the 557 from Rome today, arrived at an airbridge stand at T5B. Got to the top of the airbridge to find both the doors to departures and arrivals shut and locked, with no staff in sight.
As a 767-load worth of pax piled up behind, attention turned to the green emergency door release buttons. Someone was brave enough to attempt to push it, but they were going to open the door leading back to departures, at which point I pointed out the correct door. Another brave person pushed the emergency button on the door to arrivals. Alarms rang, and we all surged through before BAA became any the wiser.
How does this happen?
On a side note, two excellent FCO flights today in CE, with great crew, including holding back the ET pax on leaving the 767 by Door 2. Plenty of bing-bonging on the bashed out 767, screens didn't work, headrests falling off, massive rip in the side wall panel, dirty carpet etc. etc.
