When checking out a few times I am asked how things were and what they could better. I made a note at the Churchill that I was disappointed that I did not get a newspaper each and other rooms had 2 or 3 different papers. No big deal really for me. The clerk apologized profusely, and started to offer compensation - I told her to relax - it was ok.
At HR Chicago, I made a joke about the towels being a little run down and found beer and popcorn in my room when I returned- Not needed but appreciated,
The only real compensation was when I used a suite upgrade at a HR only to find I was given 1 dbl bed versus my king bed. I was a little upset because I felt that I was being asked to trade down on the bed to trade up on the room. When I followed up with management, they apologized and offered me 15,000 points. Very nice.
Hyatts do try to take care of their guests- especially Diamonds.
