Inconsistency is so true. I've had some great experiences with AC but increasingly there is also considerable frustrtion. On tuesday I arrived at YVR from PDX at around 15.25 (50 minutes late leaving PDX by the way), cleared customs in 5 minutes and then we proceeded to wait for luggage. This is just a Dash 8 with about 15 passengers. By 16.00 no bags for anyone and passengers with connections gave up and proceeded through customs without bags. Reaction from baggage staff. "File report when you get back to Toronto" No attempt to find out what was going on. Added to that the 17.00 YVR to YYZ was delayed first for 45 minutes and ended up with a 90 minute delay as they waited for an inbound Hongkong flight. Into YYZ at 01.20 (1hr late) but had to wait till 02.00 for bags (why it took over 30 minutes when there were no other flights no one explained). Some passengers even had to remove jammed luggage from the carousel because there were no Air Canada personnel to be seen. Is it any wonder that we get fed-up with this airline?
