The difference being that on the UA side, there is light years better availability, and handy tools online (ANA/AE/KVS) to put a route together in minutes to anywhere in the world on any of the 27 partners.
This is why DL and US were ranked at the bottom of the availability in that infamous study. Only online searches were included. In reality, US is at the same high level as AC/CO, only Delta lags behind
