OK, you got my attention. It's my turn now and then some of us will go back to the intent of FlyerTalk - the content. Others won't come back at all.

First of all, welcome to FlyerTalk. It's nice that you have been able to join us and hopefully get some value of the information posted on FlyerTalk. When you joined us to actively post, FlyerTalk was almost three years old and over that time we've had to rely on a number of members to help FlyerTalk grow. Doc is one of them. By my use of the word "grow" you will probably have your own ideas by now. However, time and time again i've seem Doc help a new member by digging out of the past an amazing ability to find and know where a particular thread is. It's these moments that i appreciate the value of a member like Doc. As to his overposting as you might say. There is a reality that all members of frequent flyer programs are not the same. For some they don't get excited about miles and points at all. for others - they become superfans and all activited have them - sports, NASCAR, politics, etc. Doc is our superfan and frankly, there is room for him on FlyerTalk. Of the estimated 35,000 posts that Doc has made, I've honestly can't tell you how many of them I've read - perhaps only a few hudred. Doesn't mean i don't like what he posts. It simply means that i read for content and strange at it may be, rarely look at who posted the content. I started FlyerTalk because I was interested in what others had to say, and like some of the others, can't get enough of comment and information.

Doc doesn't not annoy me with his posts. Because as I've said, i focus less on the person posting than i do on the comment. Are some of Doc's posts soft? Sure, but to that list might be some of yours and mine and probably just about every other member than Rudi or QuietLion (they do really good stuff). FlyerTalk is a bit like the real world - we learn to take it for what value it offers us and for me, spend less energy trying to make it perfect for me.

I will only take action on Doc's posts if they are out of line with our TOC or if I think that as part of a confrontation with other members might need a cooling off period. At this moment, I see no reason to take any action of Doc, and in fact may go find something he's recently posted and enjoy it.

To quote gleff "* It's clear that Randy values Doc's contributions. That should end the story."

I think it does end the story for now.

Thanks very much for kindly responding to this issue, Randy!

FWIW, I too have had many of my posts pushed down and off page one, but I do not view it as a problem, per se! Rather, it's the way of the FT boards, and the world, no?

I do not feel that I truly need, nor even remotely want, my own section- if anyone cares!

Over what will soon be four years now, I've seemingly provided about 2.5% of the posted content on FT, based only upon post numbers. I'm nothing more than a regular, typical member, albeit it, admittedly, a very enthusiastic one!

As noted elsewhere, Gaucho, the recent OMNI post scenario, in which many posts were "buried," was a bit "artificial" in that it was essentially "manufactured" as a protest by several members, by their own admission.

Yet, FT has surely grown, and in OMNI now, if you examine, for example, the last 10 days of posts alone, you'll see that there are virtually 18 pages, or approximately 450 specific thread titles posted! So nearly two full pages worth of titles occur each and every day! I do not do 'em all!

Today there are 27 titles dated 11/7 thusfar today at just past midday. I started just one! It was pushed off to page two in only about five hours! Wow! It's an unusal day!

Of course, it would be my "fault!"

Have a great day all!
