With Skype or similar, the cost of the UK call from the States is negligible.

The biggest problem for me is that the ICC closes from noon to 3 pm on continental U.S. time, and one really should place the call at least half an hour before they shut down. I prefer to do this sort of thing in the evening, in part because that's when I can discuss options with my wife.
