And here is a kicker... By rescinding the changes you'll probably come out better than any estimates you have for excluding folks flying under 120 segments. It comes down to Customer retention. The other programs give top elite status at 100 segments. If you move to 120 segments, your program becomes less desireable and you lose customers that bring you regular revenue.
Also note that AA is not following suit and boosting their segments up to 120 segments for the highest elite level. I suspect they saw the backlash here, some early converts and a few threads with over 50 people in just the UA FT forum looking to convert before we are even in to 2011.
The decision wasn't a good one, but you have a chance to say face and earn the loyalty of some good customers back. This is the time to act. Hesitation builds more resintment with your customers. Listen to the customers, act fast and make it right. You will benefit more from good decisions than bad (that's inteligent - huh?).
