College student + cruise = contradiction.

I'm not aware of any cruises. You can take a boat to Ayuthaya or, even closer, to Koh Kret, but further afield.... ? And these are marked in hours, not days.

There are some Mekong River cruise companies operating in Laos, but these are quite pricey.
