Those are the best kinds of upgrades because you think you're sitting in the back and then are pleasantly surprised.
SEA - JFK / JFK - SEA on the weekends is probably one of the easiest upgrades to get with Delta. When I was FO with Delta I was 7/8 on upgrades. This is in comparison with AS where the EWR flight, which flies into an airport with non existent partners unlike JFK (DL/AA), are incredibly difficult to obtain.
