Most of the time, people who will get this kind benefit(s) such as Gold Passport Points is the one who has high level of membership (i.e. Hyatt Diamond Gold Passport or at least Platinum Gold Passport). Logically, High Level of Membership expect the Hotel Chain itself to provide better service and the Member(s) usually has high expectation on the way they must be treated. I have heard that once Hyatt had screw up with the reservation and the Diamond member got upgraded until Presidential Suite which is unbelievable in value. Others also obtain 2,500 points with significant complaint about the services.
In some thread, even Hyatt Gold Passport Members also receive bonus points (500 to 1,000 Hyatt GP Points) when they have waited 30 minutes to check in. Bottom line: the higher membership you have the more treatment that the Hotel will give to you!

More importantly, in the end of the day, it is all depends on how they see you as a VIP guest or just normal membership person.
Thus, More VIP --> more Benefit in compensation!
