1.8 here and it only happened to me twice in very special circumstances.
Once on a downgauge where I ended up in E- with my companion but they blocked the middle.
Once F->C from NF space where they needed the seat for a medical and I was upgraded for free and then downgraded again. They had the decency to ask though.
Numerous E+ -> E- downgrades ex HKG though when I did not credit the segment to MP. But that is more the viciousness of the HKG staff rather than a generic UA thing.
