Rapiscan's Secure 1000 scanner is certified by DHS for homeland security. This technology allows operators to save images from the scanner on the system's hard disk or on an external disk `for training and legal documentation.' The stored images can be recalled and viewed on the system monitory or on any IBM compatible personal computer with color graphics.
So these scanners are taking pictures in COLOR too now huh? If thats the case, It leads me to believe the black and white images released to the media those low res, images were either A) from a much earlier model, or B) were complete BS
edit: so what have we learned so far?
The radiation these machines emit, is classified but the TSA swears its 'safe'
First the TSA claims there is NO WAY these scanners can store images
then we find out thats a lie.
Then the TSA says the scanners can only store images while in test mode but while in the airports that feature is disabled.
Then we find out from that letter thats not true either, and thinking from a national security perspective, who WOULDNT want to store these images, for one they would be a key piece to ANY prosecution surrounding a 'bomb'
the TSA releases low resolution black and white images to the press and says 'see their not THAT bad'
And now, they are suggesting that these scanners are in color, and not black and white like they made us think. another thought, what is, these scanners take a picture with layers, you can veiw it in color, black and white or reverse the colors and so forth?
