CDG is so confusing
I like to call CDG The worlds worst airport to navigate". When connecting from a flight the signs were so confusing that it took 20 minutes to figure out how to connect from the non Schengen to the Schengen area. It seems like you go in circles. Checking in at CDG is a mess as Air France takes over Delta's check in and you cannot even checkin online. Their bloody checkin kiosks don't even accept a Delta Confirmation Code and it says "Agent Required" and then it takes 15 minutes for a helpless agent to help you.
Furthermore its hard to find the proper checkin counter for the airlines. Gates are not announced until just before boarding time and they switched the gate and had to walk some to the other gate.
I am so glad SJC and SFO are my home airports. At SJC its easy to find out where the checkin counters are and finding the gates are not a problem. Even if SJC is a small airport they have really made it feel like a European airport without the confusion.
I remember in 1998 when our family connected at CDG we followed this agent with a sign that led us to a bus and then up stairs down a long hallway. It was beyond amusing having to push through crowds following the man with the sign. Orly airport now thats a different story. I would rather fly through a US airport and fly into Orly.
