Granted, it was wine. And it had alcohol in it. And it may be been "bottled" in France. But that was about it.
I wouldn't be too sure that it was either bottled in France or made from French grapes let alone have a Chablis AOC. America is (obviously) not subject to EU labelling rules. I'm not sure if there are too many restrictions on what they can label as Chablis. Certainly wines are sold as champagne which most definitely are not.
