The only part of the image that is blurred is the face. The images that you see on the internet and on signs are provided by the manufacturer. There are representative as to the capability of the machines.
Once again:
- The RFP required the functionality, specifying that a WBI be able to be placed into "Training" mode by designated personnel
- The RFP listed the staff positions that were to be permitted access to the function; several of those positions are, based on descriptions in the RFP and statements in multiple places, available at the airport level
- Failure of either qualified vendor to provide the capability on EVERY single device sold would be a violation of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (IANAL, but my annual briefing would seem to indicate this)
- As others have mentioned, Bob has admitted on the TSA Blog that the machines ARE CAPABLE of retaining images at any airport, when in "Training" mode
If the machines at DEN are not capable of being put into training mode, I would suggest you submit a Whistleblower report for the vendor in question, as they are violating the contract deliverable specifications.
