As someone who largely grew up in Portsmouth (from 7 to 18 years old)....you are mostly right I'm afraid. My parents still don't understand why I don't like it.

However, Old Portsmouth is actually fairly nice, and I don't agree that the people are all so narrow minded. But yes, an awfully ugly town.
