Not only are you dinged the $13.99 fuel fee if you don't fill up and don't have a receipt (even if you bought gas), but the fuel fee is now added as one of the _taxable_ items. With some airports and their crazy taxes, that $14 could easily turn into a $17-18 (or more) charge.

I just got dinged for this at DFW, where they have closed the gas station at the south entrace of the airport, which was by far the closest gas station to the rental facility. I didn't have time to turn around and go hunting for gas so I had to buck it up and pay the fee.
