Why should we have to quote the idiots to preserve their posts for posterity?
As I have said, I don't have a problem with allowing editting within (say) 10 minutes of posting. This allows you to go in and amend some UBB code, fix typos, etc.
But as for the rest, you should stand by your words, if you did not mean to post it then you shouldn't have posted it in the first place.
Perhaps there should be a mechanism for forum moderators to remove posts that are "inappropriate" - such as posts containing elite phonelines, etc.
But, removing the "edit post" function is definitely a good thing, it might make people wake up to themselves and start taking responsibility for what they have posted.
