We stayed at the SAN Sheraton by the Airport earlier this year and just finished a 2 night stay at the Anaheim Resort Sheraton. My wife is very sensitive to odors. She has asthma and is prone to severe headaches which can come on due to strong odors.

In both cases when we walked into the lobby the smell was strong...my wife would say overpowering. It seems to be mainly located in the lobby area. She literally started coughing and choking when we went to check in Tuesday night. She had to leave the lobby to get into the fresh air

The first time I thought it was a local, San Diego thing. When I did mention it to the desk clerk on checking out in SAN she didn't indicate anything to the contrary. Today, I once again mentioned it as I was checking out and was told it was a systemwide thing. I don't recall smelling it in several stays this summer in SC and NC. If it really is systemwide, I think my wife is done staying at Sheratons which means I'm done staying at them when she's with me

Can anyone confirm if this scent is used in all SPG properties?

I wonder if there have been many comments/complaints from people who are sensitive to smells?
