Appreciate the replies so far. But I have moved forward to Jan 9 from Toronto to Sydney on Kayak and still getting ridiculous airfares of $2200 when the same dates to BKK or HKG are $1300.

Is it just that Australia the Holiday season lasts much longer or something else?
