The likelihood of a front desk agent knowing if a particular rate code will generate PC points is slim as the PMS (at least for HIX) doesn't show anywhere if a rate code generates PC points. You have to go into the Holidex system to see that and not a lot of front desk agents have access or the know-how to look in Holidex.

And you can get a front desk agent to add your PC# to the res but if the rate code won't generate points then there's really no point as it won't count as a stay either.
