Yep, we turned off the global search to reduce load on the server. It's not as much a hardware issue, as it is the inefficiency of the source code in handling a board that gets as much traffic as we do. The UBB search process is inherently resource intensive. Granted, our new server is much faster and stronger than the old one, but the global search still monopolizes the CPUs and slows down everything else...

There have been other issues cropping up regarding the board and corruption problems, so we're more interested in finding a more efficient board solution, rather than going the hardware route for now.
