bummer, didn't realize i'd lose the 50%! although that does make sense. . .

as for trying to make prestige before 2011, it's a thought, but 6000 miles is a lot of mileage running to make prestige!

i tend to fly infrequently, but very long-haul and on my own dime (in economy!). so, the main perks of status to me are lounges, increased check allowance (that alone has saved me piles of money moving around!) and the bumps/ug's i've had on some long hauls. never used a concierge etc., so there are limits to what 'value' i take from status and i really don't want to get into AC's game of tacking on all sorts of extra miles before dec31 just to stoke my ego!
