I opt-out specifically because one can't maintain visual contact with property while in the NoS.

Invariably, the fondler instructs me to stand in a manner that will preclude visual contact with my bags. I always say "I need to be able to see my property at all times." They never push back on this.

One other hint: tape a business card to an obvious place on your laptop. This will prevent it from being accidentally mistaken as someone else's own (but not theft).
