I am 4/4 on opt-outs where the person conducting my patdown had me point to my belongings after the cleared the x-ray belt, retrieved them, and carried them over to the area where I was searched. I've never had to ask... but tomorrow may be chaotic.

Remember: You are not allowed to touch your bags, only point at them, until you are cleared.

Maybe something like "Please retrieve my belongings from the x-ray belt as per your SOP so that I can maintain visual contact with them while you perform the pat-down." Give them a chance to follow the procedure first though before breaking out the uncooperative requests
