I'm not saying they should get compensated, but technically they did not get what they paid for right?

They paid for CX and got put on VS. Maybe they prefer CX on VS and maybe CX has priced the tix at a premium over VS and the OP could have gotten VS cheaper.

I'm just saying, it's not what they paid for, nothing else.
