Just went to Canter's for the first time this weekend. LOVED the corned beef, great flavor. In terms of LA delis, IMO Canter’s has the best tasting corned beef while Langer's gets my nod for pastrami. Canters pastrami was good but didn’t hold a candle to Langers.

For NYC delis I think Katzs pastrami is the best. I’m not a fan of Carnegie now. I really enjoyed 2nd Ave’s corned beef but it has been a few years since I’ve been.

I really enjoyed Rascal House in N Miami.

Steve’s in Bloomfield Hills & other Detroit delis are good and beat the pants off of typical urban offerings (outside NYC/LA) but are not what I would call great delis.

I’ve been very bummed that Chicago delis just don’t come close to what I feel they should be. Manny’s just isn’t great, decent at best, as well as all the other Chicagoland delis I’ve been to (which is numerous as I used to sell deli meat (kosher & non-kosher)). There are better delis in Milwaukee (Jakes) than there are in Chicago.

Is it just me or do I remember more delis used to serve chopped chicken liver? now it seems I see much more chopped beef liver.
