Another consideration for someone considering this is if he could find an SE who would go to Asia with him for, say, a 50% subsidy on his V ticket. It would make it a comfortable trip for an extra $650 -- and also provide another 25% on the base mileage. (That's assuming upgradeable fares are available right now of course).
